Campaign of the Month: Macmillan’s “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning”

We’re delighted to report that this month’s campaign award goes to Macmillan for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.   The event actually started in 1990, when a local fundraising committee decided to hold a coffee morning where people came along to meet and mingle and donate the cost of their coffee to Macmillan in the process.  23 years on and #coffeemorning has become a huge success with people all over the country participating in local events on the same day to raise money.

In 2012 £15 million was raised (a record breaker).   The target for 2013 is a whopping £16 million, and you can see the charity’s progress on its dedicated website which includes a coffee bean counter showing how much has been raised in real time, as well as news from events around the country, recipes and of course personal stories.

There’s been a ton of coverage and all the popular social media channels are awash with peoples’ pictures of their own coffee morning experiences, delicious cakes, participants dressed up and requests for donations. Let’s hope #coffeemorning shortly trends.
