The Snowball Effect: PR inspiration from the Winter Olympics
The Sochi Winter Olympics kicks off this week and we cannot wait! With people shooting down ice tubes at 100mph, highly accurate housework on ice (also known as curling) and awesome board-dudes with their half-pipe tricks – what’s not to like? And how is this relevant to PR, I hear you ask?
Some of the best PR stories are counterintuitive and surprising, and some of the competitors at these Olympics are nothing if not surprising. They include: a Thai concert violinist turned alpine skier, a cross-country skiing Sherpa, a Mexican prince, a Jamaican bobsleigh team and a man who changed his name to a German underwear brand so he could compete in the Winter Olympics (he’s from Tonga).
Check out this article from the BBC and be amazed at the power of people to reinvent themselves in pursuit of their dreams.
